Reaching for the Stars: A 70th Birthday Wish

Do you love Karen? I sure do. To me, she has been the best mom anyone could ask for. Selfless, kind, and always putting others first. She has spent her life giving so much and asking for so little in return.

This year, on February 12th, she turns 70 years old. I want to make it an unforgettable milestone for her. Her biggest wish is to stargaze somewhere magical. She has previously mentioned New Mexico or Arizona (somewhere without light pollution where she could sleep under the night sky). We all know this woman never takes a real vacation, and I desperately want to treat her to something nice.

Unfortunately, I am a broke grad student. As such, I cannot shower her with gifts and experiences in the way I would like to. I’ll be honest—I really don’t like asking for money. But I love my mom so much, and this feels important. Even if just a few hundred dollars are raised to treat her to a fancy dinner, small trip, or special experience, that would be enough.

I think she deserves the world, and right now, I can’t give that to her by myself. So, I’m turning to those who also know and love her.
