Miss Rwanda 2012, Aurore Kayibanda and Yves Ndizeye who is also a level 2 coach certified by international Table Tennis federation had an idea of starting an NGO that will help children from age 6-13 both girls and boys through table tennis and other social activities. Since we both shared the same passion of loving kids and charity, In August/2019 we established NGO called SPERO INITIATIVE ''Table Tennis for Hope'' that will bring the kids together and support them based on their living standard. Spero Initiative now has a total of 51 kids in Bugesera District and Camp Kigali.
Children who go hungry may experience a number of adversities that are likely to impact on their physical and emotional wellbeing, quarantine has been a challenging time and experience for them. Children don't have same physiological protection as adults does and it is hard to express themselves in the same manner. Therefore, they get easily misunderstood and emotionally hurt.
During this time of COVID-19 crisis, children have to stay home till further notice but assumed to resume their studies in September, they need more help and understanding from their surroundings to reduce the chance of developing post traumatic disorder (PTSD) in the future.
These kids need different primary needs like food, health insurance support and educational support like books to keep them active, reading and creative by coming up with new activities rather than spending time in anxious environment as they stay home.
Most of Spero kids located in Bugesera district are poor, barely gets 2 meals per day, as one of Spero Initiative pillars is to make sure our kids are in a good environment and has the basic needs and trying to put a smile on their faces. Please support us in raising funds to support our kids.
