My name is Christine Alamu, I am originally from London but came as a missionary in 2017 to help plant a church in Birmingham. For 5 years, I worked a full-time job whilst also supporting myself on staff with the Church as one of the key leaders in the Birmingham Church. It has been such a joy so far to watch God bless the work, as I was able to influence so many women from different nations who have now become dear friends and children in the faith. Nearest and dearest to my heart was a 16-year-old teenager that I took under my wings as legal guardian at a time when she was battling with depression and so much more in a foreign land. Leslie is now a vibrant and optimistic young adult pursuing her dreams. There are so many more stories like this one and it has been my absolute pleasure to be used by God in such a way.
Once more God is calling me to a foreign mission field, in Africa - in May 2023, blowing me over to help start a Church in Accra Ghana with a population of 32 million. It is a scary shift but it is also exciting. I can say I had my plans - however, God wants me elsewhere! Therefore, until the wind blows again, I am going to be moving to Ghana alongside thirteen brave men and women on a new mission field of opportunities to preach the gospel in regions beyond me through outreach and evangelism.
I have loved the experience of serving to build the Church in Birmingham whilst working full-time in education. So serving full-time for the ministry in Ghana will be an opportunity I do not want to miss. I cannot wait to be able to give everything I can to help start the Church again on foreign land and to see God glorified as His kingdom is built. I am expectant of what God will do and how He will use thirteen brave men and women to build his church!
The key purpose in starting a church in Ghana, Accra is to:
• Liberate people struggling with sexual abuse and violence
• Increase women's empowerment
• Help people with alcohol and drug abuse
• Empower young people
• Restore broken homes
• Heal wounded relationships
• Most importantly bring the gift of salvation to a world of broken hearts.
My goal is to raise £10,000 to help with the costs. I would greatly appreciate your support financially. The money will go towards all the essentials of relocating and all expenses that I will endure to support myself and help others for some time in Africa.
Working in a Church is such a blessing and I thank God for such an opportunity! The church is so important! They continued to meet together … praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved (Acts 2:46-47)
