When we first brought Max home, we were so excited to have a new best friend. He’s a happy, playful pup who loves cuddles, belly rubs, and greeting everyone with his wagging tail.

Shortly after bringing Max home from the sellers, we noticed he was barely able to walk/eat properly leading to him being younger than we was told. We was told they would send us all the paper work via post as they were selling behalf of there daughter. A couple of weeks went by and we noticed they were never going to send them. We are under the impression that the sellers knew he had something wrong with his heart and didn’t bother to let us know or did not want to deal with it which is why i think they’ve failed to send over the paper work.

We thought we had a healthy, energetic little puppy — until a vet visit changed everything.

At his first checkup, the vet heard a heart murmur. We were worried but hoped it was something that would go away on its own. To be safe, we sought out a second opinion and took him to a specialist. That’s when we received the devastating news that Max has patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a serious heart condition.

Without surgery, PDA can shorten his life drastically. But the good news is that with treatment, puppies with PDA can go on to live long, happy, healthy lives. The surgery he needs is life-saving — but it’s also very expensive, and we can’t do it alone.
