In March of 2022 my wife of nearly 40 years, Joanne Hawkins was diagnosed with mesothelioma. It has affected the lining around her left lung and also around her stomach. She has begun chemotherapy to slow down the progress of the disease but we are told it is incurable. Joanne is a giving, thoughtful woman who always gave of herself to her friends, family and coworkers. Through the forty years we have been together we have helped friends and family with food, shelter and financial assistance.

This is a very humbling experience as we now find ourselves in a position of asking for your help. We do not know what the future has planned for us but unexpected expenses have begun to pile up. Our goal is to use your help to make Joanne comfortable, hire a senior helper to come in periodically and assist us with her care and have her life remain as close to "normal" as is possible while her illness runs its course. Also we'll be requiring income as my work schedule has been cut due to needing to provide home care for Joanne.

Because of her illness she is largely confined to home except for medical appointments. So if all you can do is send her a card or note that would brighten her day!
