On Friday July 19th my mom, Kelly Behm, got the results of a biopsy that confirmed the diagnosis of metastatic multiple myeloma cancer. She begins a cycle of chemo on Friday the 26th of 2 weeks on and 1 week off.
If anyone has had the pleasure of knowing my Mom, they know she is the kindest, sweetest, compassionate, and most generous person. She devoted her life to helping others as a nurse. When her little sister lost her life to breast cancer, she entered research studies to identify genetic causes. She also used her genetic expertise to find answers for short stature in her family, and to help her endocrine patients identify genetic origins of their conditions. She treats all of my friends as if they were her own. All of her life has focused on helping others and now she needs support from those who love her.
Her love of animals has also been a highlight in her life, keeping her devoted to special pets at home.
My mom would never ask for help herself. She travels all around the country for her consultation work, and is going to continue to work as she can.She is paying up front for medical procedures and her current insurance will end December. 31, 2019.
We are asking first and foremost for prayer for Mom and the healing miracles that God can give. She will need help getting to appointments on occasion, and possible help getting Hayley to/from the airport to be with her to assist.
Financial support is always helpful for paying overwhelming medical and hospital bills, or gift cards for food when she is unable to cook, and activities restricted from side effects of chemo. We are praying that she will reach the point of success and remission with the marrow transplant, and that research and new immunological studies and drugs can provide a pathway to a cure.
