I’m sure you’ve heard the bad news… Jodi has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy on Friday, June 13th (yes, Friday the 13th, of course) and her first round of chemotherapy is on Saturday, August 23rd.
Jodi is resilient, she will beat this. She’s competitive, whether it’s curling, cards, or game night, and she plays to win. She’s relentless, practicing a karaoke song over and over until she nails it. She’s fearless, ask her to climb onto a statue of a lion in a busy Italian piazza for a photo, and she’s up there before you finish the sentence. She’s got spunk, just yesterday, we kicked off a ten-second dance party in Williams Sonoma, and strangers joined right in! That same determination, boldness, grit, and joy are exactly what she’s bringing to her fight against breast cancer.
While she focuses all of that strength on healing, there’s one thing that could make a big emotional difference along the way… keeping her hair.
I’d like to raise funds specifically to help pay for cold capping, a treatment that cools the scalp during chemotherapy to help reduce hair loss. While it’s not covered by insurance, cold capping has been shown to help many people keep most of their hair, preserving a sense of normalcy and dignity during a time when so much feels out of their control.
This process comes with its own significant costs: the cap rental, the equipment, buying dry ice, shipping across the country, and the support needed at each chemo session to make it work effectively.
Any extra funds raised will help provide nourishing meals, comforting entertainment, and little touches to help Jodi and Corey feel cared for, just like Jodi did for Andy and me when he was sick. Your generosity will help surround her with the same kindness and support she gives to others.
They DO NOT know I’m doing this, but I know this support will mean the world to Jodi and Corey, offering not only practical help but a reminder that she’s not alone. Your encouragement, prayers, and love will lift her spirits and help her face this fight with courage and hope.
If you’re able, please consider contributing. Any amount helps, and your kindness will mean more than you know. Even if you can’t give financially, your messages of support are invaluable.
Thank you for helping Jodi face this fight with strength, hope, and confidence.
With gratitude,
Lisa Bentley
