RDA 100 Cycle Ride

On Sunday 18 September 2022 myself along with family members will be completing a 100 bike ride in aid of RDA. We will be cycling around the Suffolk countryside taking in beautiful local towns and villages including Framingham, Brundish, Witnesham and Capel St Mary.

 

I have always had a love and passion of horses and after retiring I started volunteering for RDA. As part of my volunteering I help out with all aspects of helping the clients enjoy the pleasure of horse and carriage riding. RDA use horses to provide therapeutic activities for adults and children from the Ipswich and East Suffolk area with physical and learning disabilities; and social, emotional and mental health issues including autism and dementia.

 

They support participants’ physical health and mental well-being by providing fun and engaging activities including horse riding, carriage driving and the opportunity to learn about and engage in the care of the horses. The RDA centre is a place where disabled and non-disabled people come together with a shared purpose, build friendships, a sense of belonging, confidence and self-esteem centred around equine activities.

More information about RDA (Woodbridge & District): At RDA Woodbridge and District we teach riding and carriage driving to disabled children and adults regardless of what their disability might be and have been doing this for over 30 years. The benefits to all who ride or drive with us are huge. It provides them with valuable therapeutic exercise, an opportunity to develop their social skills and a chance to build relationships with our 12 horses and ponies. At our site in Clopton we run sessions six days per week.
