Elvin Padilla, 38, born and raised in Newark, NJ, died suddenly in his sleep in the early hours on Monday, April 6, 2015, in his childhood home in Newark.
Elvin was born March 7, 1977, in Columbus Hospital, Newark, NJ, and was a lifelong area resident and a dedicated City of Newark Employee, where he worked as a Labor Relations and Compensation Officer for the Newark Police Department.
Always a bright and intelligent young man, Elvin graduated Good Counsel High School in 1995 and earned his degree from Seton Hall University in 2000. Elvin an avid hunter, amateur racecar driver and swimmer, enjoyed traveling and was committed and loyal to his family and friends, never thinking twice to care and assist others when called.
Elvin is survived by his father (Elvin Padilla Sr.), his maternal grandfather (Ventura Camacho), paternal grandfather (Oscar Padilla), his sister and brother (Ingrid and Jason Padilla), his loving niece and nephews (Briana, Joshua and Francisco “Frankie” Padilla) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., at the Buyus Funeral Home, 426 Lafayette Street, Newark, NJ, where relatives and friends are welcome.
Special Mass Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015, 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 259 Oliver Street, Newark, NJ, followed by the repast at the rectory.
