Help for Anya and Her Family

Anya and her family are from Crimea – a now former region of Ukraine. Anya and her husband Stas, have two beautiful little girls – Katya and Abigail. Katya is 4 years old and Abigail is 6 months old.

This month Anya was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She first thought something was wrong 3 years ago, but unfortunately the care that was provided was not comprehensive and missed identifying her condition. Despite her present weakened state, she has remained extremely positive and her infectious smile and laugh has remained part of her daily life. Her genuine meekness and sincerity stand out as a bright light in this world.

In order to assist in caring for her and the children, her husband has had to take a leave from his work. They do not have any family in Canada. They have always lived simply – first in a converted house garage and then at present in an apartment in the north end of Toronto. They have enjoyed recreation by visiting parks in the area in which they live. They don’t have a car and always walk a couple of kilometers to the Kingdom Hall as a family – spring, summer, fall and winter.

A big part of Anya’s life has been giving to others, and assisting others to have hope and faith. She has truly been an inspiration to us in the way that she has approached her diagnosis. They aren’t ones to look or ask for help, but as one can imagine, with Anya’s husband not working and the additional expenses in caring for Anya, there are many financial challenges in the days, weeks and months to come. So we wanted to share our hope of providing some relief to Anya and the family. The financial challenge at this time is one we don’t want them to have to worry about.

In an effort to address the need, we are sharing this with friends and family and those who may have a connection to Anya.
