RCSD Students Fighting for Long Term Reform
Donation protected
We are currently in a financial crisis in our city where our city school district is $30 million in debt and is predicted to be $60 million in debt by the end of this school year in June. Because of this, the district has been forced to make cuts in the amount of staff we have. Teachers in all grade levels are predicted to be laid off or displaced. We decided to form a group of students, from across the district, to go to Albany and ask the state education department for the $97 million that they owe us. We understand the importance of this cause because we love our teachers and value their influence and what they contribute to the success of our education. We ask that you donate to our cause so that we may be able to pay for all the necessities that will allow for us to accomplish our mission in Albany and improve the conditions of our community.
