Please Help Kristen and Her Family

Dear friends,

We are writing to you today about our dear, beautiful friend, Kristen (Yurt) Maher, who, six years ago, was diagnosed with a rare blood disease, received a bone marrow transplant and a stem cell transplant and has been battling graft vs. host disease ever since, a condition that has completely ruined her lungs. A recent cold turned into pneumonia and doctors feared she wouldn’t make it through the night. She did, but is currently in a medically induced coma with a very dire prognosis. If she does pull through, it will be a long recovery for her and her family and she will need intense medical care for the rest of her life. Currently Kristen’s husband, Ron, and 22-year-old son, Ryan, are in a constant vigil by her bedside. In addition to Kristen’s declining health, Ron also has health issues, which have him out of work for long stretches at a time, and Ryan is doing the best he can to help support his family, but at 22 he has limited resources.

We would like to help this family, so dear to our hearts, with general living expenses, food, transportation. The list is really long as far as the resources needed for Kristen and her family.
