Help Support Annette’s Journey to Recovery
Annette has endured an extraordinarily difficult series of medical events over the past several months, and her journey has been marked by resilience, determination, and strength.
In August, Annette underwent carpal tunnel surgery, which resulted in a loss of feeling in her left arm. Shortly afterward, the lack of sensation caused her to fall while taking something to the trash, resulting in a broken hip. In October, she underwent surgery to place a plate in her hip.
Following that surgery, Annette was transferred to a rehab facility. While there, she developed a staph infection in a finger on her left hand, requiring yet another surgery. After months of setbacks, she was finally able to return home for a few days. Sadly, during that brief time, Annette suffered several small strokes followed by one major stroke. Thankfully, her son DJ was with her, able to catch her and get her to safety until an ambulance arrived.
Since October, Annette has been in and out of the hospital and rehabilitation facilities, continuing to fight her way forward.
As a result of the stroke, Annette has lost the use of her left arm and is relearning how to walk independently. She will be unable to work for several months and will require 24/7 supervision and assistance once she returns home. Unfortunately, insurance coverage is extremely limited and does not cover many of the essential items and services she now needs to live safely and with dignity.
This fundraiser was created to help cover the cost of critical medical equipment and home modifications not covered by insurance, including:
- A traveling wheelchair to support mobility
- A stairlift to safely move between floors in her home
- Home accessibility upgrades, such as bathroom grab bars and safety railings throughout the house
Any additional funds raised will be used to help hire in-home care on days when volunteer support is not available, ensuring Annette is never left without the care she needs.
If you’re unable to contribute financially, there are other meaningful ways to help. Volunteering your time to stay with Annette when coverage isn’t available, signing up for the meal train, or simply offering words of encouragement are all deeply appreciated and make a real difference. Please also visit the Team Annette Facebook group to give her an uplifting shout out, see updates on her progress, and access calendar and events.
Every contribution—whether time, meals, or financial support—helps ease the burden on Annette and her family and allows them to focus on what truly matters: her healing, safety, and continued progress.
Thank you for being part of Annette’s support system and for helping her move forward with strength, hope, and dignity.
