Help Hayley Get Back On Her Feet
Donation protected
Hayley has been looking forward to three things all year: Red Delicious Tour/new tape, running a 5k, and starting her masters program at SAIC. After getting hit by a drunk driver while biking home at 10:30pm on a Friday night, Hayley sustained two acetabular fractures on her left hip requiring major surgery, a fractured hand requiring a cast, and a gash on her head that needed 5 stitches. After almost two weeks in trauma care, she'll need to transition to a rehab facility to learn how to walk again. All of this care will likely cost much more than anything she'll get from the driver who had minimal liability insurance.
She will have major mobility restrictions for approximately 6-12 weeks and will be out of work for several months. She'll only be able to get around with a walker (with accommodations for her broken hand) and a wheelchair. Unfortunately, she'll likely be out of work for longer and will require ongoing accommodations for school.
I've put this together to help Hayley with rent, medical equipment (need a ramp for the house), food, transportation, etc. for the next few months as she recovers. If you're a friend of Hayley, you know that she is an extremely generous and thoughtful friend. Before I was able to get to the hospital, she had me call her dog walking clients and make sure they knew their dogs would be taken care of despite the accident. The first thing she said to me when I arrived at the hospital is that she was sorry that my bike was damaged.
Hayley is one of the most ambitious and determined people I know so she's not going to let this get in her way of achieving her goals.
Any support would be endlessly appreciated. We've been overwhelmed with all of the get well wishes and flowers <3
For those of you who live in the Chicago area and would like to support with Cosey, we have a calendar to sign up to assist with a walk for feeding:
