Albert Mendoza, known to most as Pinky, passed away 12-21-15 at the age of 71.
Pinky was hit by a car in his preteen years and because of that his mind never grew up with his body. He wanted to be a firefighter so bad. The Clute Volunteer Fire Department made him an Honorary Firefighter and he took his job seriously. You would often find him hanging out at the firestation. He would drive his bicycle all over Clute and carried a hand held police scanner that he thought was his "radio" to use as comunication to the firefighters on scene. No matter what he was doing, if he heard a tone drop for the fire department, he would stop what he was doing to head up to the fire station and wait until the trucks came back so he could help direct them into the bays. The fire department would regularly supply him with department t-shirts and caps. Pinky was part of the brother hood of firefighters. In the words of Clute Volunteer Fire Fighter, Andy Solis " Pinky is now a firefighter with the Ulitimate Fire Chief. "
There was no life insurance policy for Pinky and no other funds to pay for his funeral. We are setting up this account to hopefully get enough funds raised to cover his funeral costs.
Pinky had a heart of gold and loved the Lord. He loved people. He used to make his rounds everyday and we had the pleasure of being one of his stops. I would have coffee ready for him in the morning. He moved to another city so we have not had the pleasure of his frequent visits lately. However, Out of the blue, Pinky's sister dropped him off at our house last Thursday. I didn't have coffee, but I did have some tator tots from Red Top that he was greatful to have when I offered them to him. He gave us a Christmas card and dropped one off for us to give to the fire department. I am so thankful that God gave us the opportunity to see his smiling face one more time before he left us. His joyful heart will be missed by many.
Thank you so much for considering to help. Any amount will be greatly appreaciated.
