On Sunday, June 26 2022 at approximately 1:30 am, we received a hysterically frantic phone call from my sister-in-law that my brother had been shot.
We didn’t know what the extent of his injuries were at that time.
After several phone calls, law enforcement informed us of which emergency trauma unit he was being transported to.
We rushed there to be by his side. Upon arrival we were informed that he was a gunshot victim of a violent assault. He was shot possibly 6-8 times and he was in critical condition, fighting for his life.
At the time we were speaking to the hospital staff, the surgical team was prepping him for emergency surgery in attempt to save his life. We were asked to hope and pray for the best.
The surgical team performed several surgeries on him for 8-10 hours due to the extensive damage caused from the gunshot wounds. He sustained damage to his esophagus, diaphragm, colon, intestines, liver, kidneys, leg and back.
Little did we know that a second day of surgery would be necessary the following day.
We were told by the surgical team that they were not able to complete several repairs needed because of the amount of time and extensive repairs they had to complete during the first round of surgery. He was left overnight with his abdomen muscles opened and the surgical team took him back in to surgery the next day.
At this point he is still in critical condition but stable. He is currently intubated, has a feeding tube for nutrients and being cared for by the ICU staff at the hospital.
We have been told by doctors that if things go well, his recovery process could be anywhere from 6 months to a year.
With that being said we are asking for help from our family and friends, in hope to help elevate some of the worry and stress this unfortunate incident has caused.
My brother is the main provider for his wife and three children and will not be returning to work for some time as he has a long recovery ahead.
All contributions and donations will go towards Medical cost and help with financial obligations such as Mortgage, Utility Bills, Insurance, Hospital Parking, Gas and etc.
