Study Abroad in Osaka, Japan

While abroad, in Osaka this summer, I will study Japanese at Osaka Gakuin University, which benefits the long-term career options I wish to pursue after graduation. I currently major in Honors Science and Humanities with a concentration in environmental science at Texas Tech University. I love to explore the ways people interact with each other and by extension the environment. While I will be in an immersive Japanese program there is much more to learn about Japanese culture and what role nature plays in a developed culture today. After graduation, I will return to Japan to teach English and learn more about the Eastern world before I return to the West to pursue graduate degrees. In the long run, I hope to join the Peace Corps to work on horticulture and sustainability projects toward international aid. The value of these cannot be understated, as my undergraduate experience is the first step into becoming a global citizen ready to change the world. When fully proficient in Japanese I will fulfill a lost connection to my heritage, and I provide an opportunity to learn ideas unexplainable in English. This opportunity aligns perfectly with my short-term goal of pursuing Japanese fluency, and my long-term aspirations to impact the world around me as a global citizen. I will be extremely grateful for any contribution, as anything will put me one step closer to a foundational experience.
