This fundraiser it to help offset funeral and burial expenses for my newphew, Brooks Forester, who passed away at the age of 9 after a long battle against pediatric brain cancer. Please help us lay this sweet boy to rest and alleviate the financial burden on his parents during this incredibly difficult time.

Brook Holt Forester was born to parents Doug and Megan Forester on March 13th, 2014. A native of Marietta, Georgia, he entered into the presence of Jesus on May 17th, 2023, surrounded by his family, following a courageous fight against pediatric brain cancer.

The fullness of Brooks’ life is reflected not in its nine short years but in the way he lived it with passion, character, and love. His passion for World War II military history meant that a family trip to Pearl Harbor, sponsored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, was a particular highlight for him. A lifelong Braves fan, Brooks loved watching and playing baseball, even as his fight made the latter increasingly difficult.

Coupled with Brooks’ passion was a magnetic character that made others want to be around him. His inquisitive mind and natural curiosity made him enjoyable to talk to one-on-one. His eagerness to perform and sense of humor made him an absolute joy in group gatherings.

Most central to how Brooks lived his life is the love he shared. He deeply loved – and was loved by – his immediate family, his extended family, and many friends and supporters in his school, church, and community. Above all, Brooks loved Jesus. He knew Jesus at an early age, was confident of His abiding presence, and wanted others to know Him as well.

Brooks is survived by his parents, Doug and Megan Forester of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Charlotte (11); brothers, Jack (7) and Hayes (10 months); maternal grandparents, Jay and Amy Scott of Cartersville, Georgia; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Claudia Forester of Decatur, Georgia; paternal great-grandmother, Jean Forester of Decatur, Georgia; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Roswell Street Baptist Church on Sunday May 21st at 4:00 pm.
