Those who know the Nethery family know that Linda and Jamie are genuine and kind, always willing to help, and they know Ruby and Lucas to be sweet and fun-loving kids.  Ruby’s accident, which resulted in a serious brain injury in mid-November, turned their world upside down. 

They have been in London Children’s Hospital for a month, and Ruby has made significant progress.  The good news is that Ruby came out of her coma, and she continues to get better each day. While she is walking and talking, and developing more skills all the time, the road to recovery with her brain injury is still a long one.

Next week, the doctors are sending them to Holland Bloorview Pediatric Rehab Hospital in Toronto, which specializes in brain injury rehabilitation. Doctors say their stay in Toronto could be anywhere from 1-6 months. They are looking forward to taking the next steps in Ruby’s recovery, but are sad to be further from home.

In the meantime, many people are reaching out, asking how they can help.  Besides our continued prayers, the next step is to prepare for her long-term care.  As soon as Ruby is stable enough, they will be traveling home on weekends to begin the reintegration process, and then traveling back to Toronto for rehabilitation throughout the week.  Once they are home from Bloorview, it is likely that Ruby will need accommodations within the home, additional in-home therapy, and some assistance in school.  At this point, they don't know what that will entail, but this fund is one way we can be of assistance with Ruby’s recovery.

Jamie and Linda want everyone to know that all money will be used for Ruby's care, and anything left over will be donated to Ronald McDonald House in London, who have been overwhelmingly supportive.
