Hi, my name is Charlotte, and I'm fundraising to save my husband, Karl’s, sight.

Karl is a loving husband and devoted father to two gorgeous kids. He works extremely hard to provide for us and in his few precious me-time hours he is an award-winning, published artist and author and photographer. Now, however, that’s all under imminent threat.

In December 2022, Karl was told that he’d developed cataracts and was referred for surgery. Unfortunately, a mere 10 months later, the left-eye cataract has thickened to the point where Karl has lost almost all vision in that eye. The right eye is showing similar if slower deterioration.

Despite a second referral by the opticians, the waiting list for the NHS is approximately 3-4 years at this point, so it’s unlikely he will get an appointment, even for the initial consultation, for another 3+ years.

All the while, his world becomes darker, making him miss moments with his children and family, and unable to do any form of artwork or photography, which is his passion.

Private cataract surgery costs around £3000 per eye and I’m hoping to raise enough to return Karl’s vision in one.
