Emily’s Journey

Dear friends and family,

We are reaching out to share the story of Emily who has been diagnosed with T-Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, a rare, aggressive and fast growing form of cancer that affects the lymphatic system and treated like a leukaemia .

Emily began experiencing symptoms a month ago such as consistent swelling around her face and neck, difficulty breathing and the compression on her heart from where the tumour sits. This has lead to numerous medical biopsy’s, scans, lumbar punctures and other tests. After a series of procedures, the diagnosis of T-Lymphoblastic Lymphoma was confirmed to be in a singular location in her chest sitting at 10x10cm in size. This type of cancer requires immediate and intensive treatment for an average of 18 months, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions possibly a bone marrow transplant down the line.

The cost of treatment is overwhelming. While public healthcare covers many expenses, there are significant out-of-pocket costs not covered by insurance or government programs.

These include:

- Ongoing medications

- Fertility preservation injections

- Ongoing travel to Melbourne

- Accommodation for family close by

I have set up this GoFundMe page to help alleviate some of the financial strain. Your generous donations will go directly towards Emily’s family in this time to continue to support her during her treatment with this disease.
