Help my family with moving costs

My name is Heidi. My family names are Janvier and Fontaine, I am CRDN Dene.

I am making this gofundme to reach out to the community to ask for assistance with my moving costs.

I am a disabled two spirit woman, I work primarily from home selling various forms of Indigenous art, and I also work part-time in the community as an art teacher.

Because of the ambiguity around Bill 137, it is unclear whether or not I would be able to continue teaching in all schools in Saskatchewan. It is my understanding that although sexual health education has become limited, so has cultural education and this will greatly impact my ability to reach my students as I would be considered a cultural connector.

Unfortunately this will likely cut my income in half.

I would like this home because I need a bigger space for my growing family. I also need a safe space for the elders in my family who may need assistance within the next few years.

I am asking for assistance because I will be paying rent three times this month (April 1st for my old place, April 15th for half rent in the new house, and May 1st full rent). I am also in debt and relying on a credit card for essentials at the moment.

This is $4345 total, with additional costs for the uhaul, gas, etc.

I am not asking for the full amount, $750 would take an exponential financial load off of my family.

This community assistance will allow me to not only continue acting as a carer for my family, but will also allow me to continue the work I do in the community. I founded the Parka Project and co-founded Artists in Solidarity. I've sent masks, clothing, and feminine products up north. I regularly donate beadwork and regalia to people in need, and I am only able to do this with the support of my community. So I wanted to say thank you, Marci-Cho.
