Rebuild Nepal

Hello beautiful friends and family!

This winter, I have the unique opportunity of traveling to Takure, Nepal with a non-profit organization called Conscious Impact. Takure is a rural village located in Sindhupalchok, one of the worst hit regions by the devastating 2015 earthquakes. Conscious Impact has been working in Takure since August 2015 to support sustainable, long-term rebuilding where 99% of all homes and buildings were completely destroyed.

Conscious Impact has created a resource center for rural Nepal families to learn about natural building options and to offer access to affordable and locally available building materials. The natural building technique focused on is Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEBs) and are made using a manual lever brick press.

Last year with the support of donors and volunteers, Conscious Impact and the community of Takure made more than 20,000 earth bricks which were used to rebuild a local primary school that was destroyed in the earthquakes.  As a volunteer, I will be helping to make earth blocks for the reconstruction of homes! You can read more about Conscious Impact's work at http://www.consciousimpact.org/ourwork/. And check out their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ConsciousImpact/.

In addition to all the wonderful things I've learned and beautiful people I’ve met as an undergrad, this program will teach me the importance and beauty of self and community growth, independence, giving back, how to become an even better leader, and appreciating life itself.  I truly believe that this will be an amazing growing and learning experience for me.

In order to make this fully possible and for Conscious Impact to continue to support sustainable, long-term rebuilding, I need your support! I am looking for donations to help support the work of Conscious Impact in Nepal. I have set my fundraising goal at $2,500 all of which goes to support the projects in Takure. I’m hoping to reach my goal by December 20, 2016, as I will be departing for my trip on January 2, 2017.

Thank you so much for your time, love, and support. I look forward to sharing with you all, my journey in helping rebuild Nepal!
