Raze the Roof, Music for Charity

My name is Mike Bostock, cancer sufferer and musician.

If cancer has never touched your life then you’re very lucky. My life changed dramatically when my local hospital, the Royal Berks in Reading, diagnosed that I had cancer. I became a 1 in 2 person. It’s a scary statistic isn’t it?

My treatment and care at the Royal Berks Hospital has been incredible. After my operation and the subsequent program of chemo, I realised I wanted, needed, to give something back to all the NHS team who so skilfully and selflessly made my recovery possible.

Being a musician, I believed I could call on help from Reading’s music community to raise essential funds for the RBH Cancer Unit. I knew that if I could put RBH together with Reading’s amazing and talented music community then we would have a powerful fundraising weapon.

So I set up ‘Raze the Roof’, a series of musical events to raise money for the Royal Berkshire Charity, the medical funding stream of Royal Berkshire Hospital. These funds will be dedicated to vital cancer treatment equipment in the RBH Cancer Centre.

Through our live music performances and your generous donations, we will able to help the RBH Cancer Centre continue its fight in the treatment of cancer and the saving of lives.
