Sunny was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma on 2/13/2024 at 21 months old.
Sunny started walking around 16 months old but her left leg did not turn straight to walk like her right leg did. At a well child check up the Dr did not seem concerned and said it was fine and he wouldn’t be concerned until she was 2. Otherwise Sunny seemed like a normal happy inquisitive toddler. After a few chiropractic visits and her leg not improving Sunny’s mom decided to go ahead and ask the Dr for a physical therapy referral. The weekend before that visit Sunny sported a spontaneous black eye on her right eye lid. When she got to the Dr appointment on Monday the Dr took one look at her eye and examined her hip and was not happy with either. He ordered blood tests and an X-ray. By Thursday the blood work came back with some abnormalities and he ordered more blood work the following week.
Monday 2/12/2024 the Dr called and said Sunny needed to go to Seattle Children’s hospital right away. Once there more blood word was done along with CT scans to accurately diagnose her. On Tuesday 2/13/2024 they had the answer, neuroblastoma. Sunny began Chemotherapy on 2/15/2024 at midnight.
The immediate need now is funds for Kasey (Sunny’s mom) to pay for her meals at the hospital. They also need to secure housing near the hospital so that if Sunny gets an infection between chemo treatments she can get back to the hospital asap. The family currently lives too far away to stay at home so they need to find temporary housing by Tuesday while they are on a waitlist for a more permanent solution for the next year.
Gabe (Sunny’s Dad) will then be commuting from Seattle back to Kitsap for work. He will need to secure some type of commuter vehicle and pay for transportation back and forth. Amongst all that they have their other two boys to care for and arrange assistance for in case Kasey has to get Sunny to the hospital in an emergency.
Prayers are our most important need because we know God is the ultimate healer. He knew who Sunny was going to be before she was even formed and knew this battle would be before her. If you can help Sunny and her family financially in even some small way that would bless them immensely and if not please continue to pray for Sunny, she has a long road ahead to complete healing. Some days the sorrow of all Sunny is going through steals away the words to even form a prayer and when those moments come we are grateful to all those around us who raise up a chorus of prayers for our precious Sunny girl. No greater comfort is found in knowing Sunny’s name is being lifted before the thrown of the ultimate healer. Thank you for praying with us.
