Ray’s Journey: A Season of Unimaginable Challenges
Over the past 10 months, Ray’s life has been completely turned upside down by a series of serious and unexpected health issues that all seemed to come at once.
It began with a detached retina that left him with significant vision loss. In May, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Soon after, he was hospitalized for a severe infection that led to a partial foot amputation. Just as he began adjusting to that, a second infection required the removal of even more of his foot.
Then, in December, came the most devastating blow—Ray was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease. He was hospitalized from December 5th, 2024, to February 14th, 2025. His kidneys can no longer function on their own, and he now requires dialysis three times a week to survive. He has since been placed on the kidney transplant list.
Ray has worked hard his entire life and is deeply independent. Admitting that he can no longer work and needs help hasn’t come easily. But with his unemployment benefits exhausted, no savings left, and his disability claim still pending, he’s now facing this incredibly difficult time without any financial support.
Ray would never ask for help himself—which is why, as his friend, I’m asking on his behalf. He doesn’t know about this fundraiser. I know he would feel uneasy being the focus of something like this—but right now, he truly needs all the help he can get.
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount would mean the world. And if you’re not in a position to give, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support. It means everything.
