in Loving Memory of Jean Bertho Charles ️❤️
I'm one of the managers at Chipotle, and I had the pleasure of being Jean Bertho Charles’ manager at Chipotle. I am creating this GoFundMe to help support Jean’s family following the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of their beloved son, brother, and loved one. As someone who had the opportunity to know Jean through work, I wanted to do something meaningful to help his family during this incredibly difficult time.
On the morning of October 6, 2026, Jean was simply doing what he usually did to start his day: going out to get himself breakfast, as he always did in the morning. It was supposed to be just another ordinary morning, a simple part of his daily routine. Instead, it became a day that changed his family’s lives forever. He was just an 18-year-old young man going about his morning, with no idea that he would not be returning home. It is heartbreaking to think that something so simple and routine would become the last morning of his life. No family should ever have to receive news like this, and no young person should have their life cut short while simply going about their day. Jean deserved so many more mornings, so many more opportunities, and so many more years to live out his dreams.
Jean was so much more than the tragic circumstances of his passing. He was a young man with a bright smile, a kind heart, a great sense of humor, and a future he was actively working toward.
One of the things that stood out about Jean was his smile. He was the type of person who always seemed to have a smile on his face, and his funny personality could bring laughter to those around him. He was kind, hardworking, and always willing to help others. As his manager, I got to see his dedication at work and the person he was becoming. Jean chose to work at Chipotle because he enjoyed cooking, and he was building experience while continuing to pursue his goals outside of work.
Jean was also incredibly creative and talented. He had a passion for art, technology, and design, and he took those interests seriously. He was a web developer and creative designer who built his own website to showcase his work. He specialized in creating modern websites, mobile applications, and designs that could help businesses stand out. His website highlighted more than 12 live projects, showing the effort he had already put into developing his skills and turning his ideas into reality. His Projects ~ M K Master Kevi
At only 18 years old, Jean was already exploring different opportunities and working toward a future for himself. He was pursuing his education in Computer science, learning how to turn his ideas and creativity into something meaningful. He had ambitions beyond his years, and it was clear that he wanted to accomplish something with his life. Whether he was working, creating designs, developing websites, or exploring his interests, Jean showed the determination of someone who wanted to build a better future.
It is heartbreaking to think about all the things Jean still had ahead of him: the dreams he had yet to fulfill, the goals he had yet to reach, the experiences he had yet to enjoy, and the memories he had yet to make with the people he loved. He deserved the opportunity to continue growing, learning, and discovering everything life had waiting for him.
No family should ever have to experience the pain of losing a loved one so suddenly. While we cannot take away the grief his family is experiencing, we can come together as a community to help ease some of the financial burden during this difficult time.
I am asking for your support to help Jean’s family with funeral and memorial expenses and other unexpected costs following this devastating loss. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference and will be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community is another meaningful way to help.
As Jean’s manager, I wanted to create this fundraiser because I believe that when someone in our community experiences a loss like this, we should come together and show up for the people who need us most. I hope we can surround Jean’s family with love, compassion, and support and remind them that they do not have to face this difficult time alone.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read Jean’s story, donate, share this fundraiser, or keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. Every act of kindness means more than words can express.
Jean, you were taken from this world far too soon. Your smile, kindness, humor, creativity, and ambition will not be forgotten. Although your life was too short, we will always remember the impact you made and the dreams you were working toward. May you rest peacefully, and may your family find strength, comfort, and peace in the love that surrounds them.
Rest in peace, Jean Bertho Charles. Gone far too soon, but never forgotten.❤️
