On February 20, 2024 we lost a loving and hardworking father and husband. On January 4, 2024 Raymundo was admitted to the hospital due to complications from Diabetic Ketoacidosis and Respiratory Syncytial Virus. As he was recovering from high blood sugar levels and RSV, he began to develop a fungal infection that entered through the sinus and slowly spread to his left eye. The rarity of this fungal infection required Raymundo to be transferred to multiple hospitals and ultimately led to the removal of his left eye to prevent it from further spreading to his brain. After what doctors deemed to be a successful surgery, they informed us that he was on the right path to recovery. Unfortunately, nine days after his operation he contracted pneumonia and soon after he went into cardiac arrest twice. Doctors had to revive Raymundo, through CPR, twice. This occurrence initiated the decline of his other organs, most importantly his lungs, requiring him to be put on a ventilator. Despite being given medications to aid with his blood pressure and oxygen intake, his body was not able to keep up with its demands.
Raymundo passed away peacefully on a Tuesday morning surrounded by family and loved ones. He was loved and cherished by many. He was self driven and took pride in his career in landscaping. Raymundo was born in Oaxaca, Mexico in 1958 and lived the first half of his life in his hometown where he met and married his wife Dominga. Sadly, their first born passed away before seeing the age of two. Soon after, they had a second child and made the courageous decision to come to the United States. He worked hard to establish himself and provide a better life for his family. In the years to follow, he had two more children and was able to work a job that allowed him to express his love of nature. Raymundo always had a smile on his face that would brighten the room. He was the life of the party and was always the first person on the dance floor. He was a friend to everyone and always had a positive outlook on life.
Raymundo's death had an immense effect on his family, friends and community. His absence in our daily lives is a constant reminder that he is no longer with us. No amount of time will ever heal the wounds and ease the pain we feel in our hearts.
We ask for anyone reading Raymundo's story to please help with funds for his funeral and his immediate family as his death was very sudden and unexpected. All proceeds will go towards providing Raymundo a beautiful funeral service and burial, as well as to financially support his wife and children.
