Raymundo Simon Santiago

Donation protected
Raymundo (Mundo) Simon Santiago (20) tragically died in a car accident on Friday, 8/18. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted and hardworking young man with lots of ambition.

Mundo loved his church family at St. Ann Catholic Church in West Palm Beach where he attended regularly. He loved to play the guitar and sing at both the youth services as well as mass. One of his friends from church writes, “Raymundo was the light of the J.O.S.U.E Youth group of the parish of St. Ann.

He was a very humble, friendly boy, and always encouraging young people. He was a great reason why young people began to feel at home as a family and undoubtedly loved because Raymundo always came to them with open arms. He had a wonderful talent and he used it to praise our God.

He was a boy that many could admire and want to follow in his footsteps. He never had bad intentions, he was always good because he always wanted good and not evil.

Raymundo has left us but with a broken heart for his departure but we can understand that God needed him by his side to glorify him.”

He worked for Lighting by Design as a lighting technician. He was eager to learn from the very beginning and quickly became an invaluable member of the team.

Mundo's dream was to return to Guatemala, build a house and start a family. In recent months he expressed how much he missed his mom and was reminded by his brother Simon that he could go back at any time. He chose to stay and continue working to achieve his dream.

Lighting by Design is collecting donations on behalf of his family to pay for the funeral expenses and to have him flown back home to Guatemala City. His family will meet him for the 10-hour drive to their hometown in San Pedro Soloma. They will have another service for him there before his burial the following day.

Other options to donate are:
  • Deposit directly at TD Bank to the Mundo Memorial Fund (Acct 4443588508)
  • Zelle John Noll at the Lighting by Design phone number (www.lightdesignfl.com) and the money will be transferred to the TD Bank account

He is survived by two brothers Simon and Timoteo, two sisters Glendi and Katarina as well as his mother and father Tomas and Angelina.

A service will be held at Palm West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach on Sunday, 8/27 at 3:00 pm.
