Raymond’s Story

My name is Luwanna Eck and I am married to the love of my life, Raymond Eck. We met over 27 years ago and have enjoyed being married for 23 of those years. He is the love of my life and my soul mate. We have made it through some tough times together and have always supported each other. We are now facing a reality that neither of us are prepared for. Raymond has terminal cancer. This is not supposed to be happening, he is only 62. We have so many plans for the future and we were going to grow old together. Now he gets so weak after treatments that he has to stay in bed for days. We have so many wonderful memories of fishing, hiking and camping together. Now we are struggling to make ends meet and the medical bills are piling up. We have insurance and I work full time; however, it is not enough.

Raymond was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in September 2022 and had surgery to remove it. As he continues to recover from that he found a lump on his left rib cage. After tests, scans and a biopsy it was diagnosed as Stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma mastisize The cancer has spread through his body and there is no cure. He is in treatment every two weeks to slow the progression.

We are asking for help from our family, friends and community. We are struggling to come to terms with this diagnosis and the stress that it has put on us. Any monetary help will go towards the medical bills and  prescription.  Thank you for reading this and any help that you can provide. God Bless.
