Ray deserves a second chance at life
I am so very thankful that I have had the privilege to have and call Ray my Uncle. He is without a doubt, the most caring, kind, and gentlest soul in the world, which is why the latest chapter of his story is tragic.
Ray, at 58 years old, has stage 4 decompensated cirrhosis of the liver due to a genetic abnormality and rare blood clotting disorder. For the past 6 months he has been seeing doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in order to make sure his body can handle a liver transplant. The cost of a transplant surgery can range from $250,000 - $1 million during the first year alone. Anti-rejection drugs can cost patients $2,500 a month.
On July 01, 2016 Ray was told he is not allowed to work anymore. Due to the malfunctioning liver, as well as his intravascular bleeding episodes. We are asking for help, anything you can offer. All monies raised will be used for basic living expenses, as well as insurance copays, prescription refills, and all other medical related expenses.
Ray hopes to share his experience with others, so that they might better understand the nature and cause of his disease.
Donations are not expected to be a handout. Any task, large or small, if able, he will do.
This giant hearted and giving person is working everyday to survive. Please help us give him this second chance at life.
Thank you for your consideration.
