Raymond Montelongo: The Other Side of COVID-19
Donation protected

Abilene Friends of Raymond and Lisa Montelongo are raising money to help Raymond in his fight to recover from the lasting effects of COVID-19. Lifetime residents of Abilene, both Raymond and Lisa were diagnosed with COVID-19. Lisa recovered at home, while Raymond required ICU care. Raymond has been in the hospital for more than 90 days and continues to fight for his life and make progress to recover. Without insurance, there are mounting medical bills and significant costs in finding ongoing medical care for his best chance at recovering some sort of life. He will soon need to transfer to a long term care facility and there will be a large cost to do so.
Raymond has a tracheostomy with oxygen and is still battling pneumonia. He is unable to walk, move his torso and can barely move his hands. He is often confused and has trouble with his memory.
The other side of COVID-19 can be crippling to survivors. For some like Raymond, it will be an ongoing fight to recover from a devastating disease. Because Lisa has a job and Raymond is now receiving disability, he is unable to obtain Medicaid at this time. There is no money left to pay medical bills and LTAC (long term acute care) fees. Their situation is dire.
This giving season and into the New Year, we ask that you join us in donating money to help Raymond and Lisa continue to stay above their bills and make the best life decisions for his care.
