My name is Raye and I was diagnosed with congenital heart disease when I was 7 months old. My mummy and daddy had no idea. I’d managed my condition so well for 7 months, but slowly began to struggle with low oxygen levels, and eventually let my mummy and daddy know I needed help.
I needed open heart surgery and was sent to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where I would spend the next 2 months..
My condition is called Tratology of Fallot and it can (and should) be picked up at a 20 week pregnancy scan, but this wasn’t to be for my mummy. It was also missed when I was born, and at my newborn checks. How unlucky.
Id love for you to join me in making a difference. I’m raising money to benefit Tiny Tickers, and any donation will help make an impact.
Tiny Tickers helps babies with congenital heart disease (CHD), their families and health care professionals with early detection. They provide specialist training so that prenatal scans are more effective at detecting heart defects.
A baby is born with a serious heart condition every 2 hrs in the UK and despite CHD being one of the biggest killers of infants in the UK, only around half of congenital heart defects are picked up during routine prenatal scanning. Please help me raise money for such a worthy cause. www.tinytickers.org
