Our family has been navigating an unexpected and life-threatening medical crisis. As we share this, we ask for privacy and compassion, especially for our children.
In December and again in early January, one of our children experienced a sudden emergency that required ambulance transport, several days in the ICU at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, and additional hospitalization. Since then, our focus has been on ensuring they receive the highest level of care and support, which currently includes an extended residential treatment program out of state.
This experience has affected our entire family, and we are committed to doing everything we can to support long-term healing. That includes ongoing therapy and support, not only for our child, but for all of us, as we work to rebuild stability and move forward together.
Because this crisis crossed into a new calendar year, we’ve been responsible for two full out-of-pocket maximums in a short period of time, along with significant travel and ongoing care expenses. At the same time, Lauren’s job was impacted by layoffs and a major reduction in hours. While this has allowed her to fully focus on coordinating care and supporting our family, it has also reduced our financial stability during an already difficult time.
We are deeply grateful to have insurance and access to excellent medical care. Even so, the remaining costs are more than we can carry alone.
Our focus is simple: helping our child complete treatment, heal fully, and safely return to everyday life.
We have set our goal to help cover the out-of-pocket medical expenses required for treatment and recovery. Any support helps relieve the financial burden and allows us to focus fully on healing.
If you feel moved to support our family through prayer, encouragement, or a financial contribution, we would be profoundly grateful. More than anything, we are thankful for the love, strength, and community that surrounds us. We truly couldn’t make it through this without y’all.
With love,
Aaron and Lauren
