We are making this to help our parents, Ray & Sue Pace, and bless them during this time. This health situation was very unexpected as many of you know. People have been asking how to help and after prayer this is another way to help them. We want them to be abundantly blessed and not have to think of all the added costs. We went from thinking it was a cough & bad fatigue to stage 4 lung cancer that showed up mulitple places in the body. Your whole life flips upside down within a matter of days & it’s still so surreal.
Ray is currently going to Cancer Treatment Centers of America outside of Chicago once a month. The center covers our dad’s flight and only our mom’s if there is a treatment that visit. Flights for her & food there get expensive fast. He is also on a really strict diet, with a ton of thought & research on what is best for his health and to get rid of the cancer cells & tumors. All of his organic, specialty food, and supplements add up quickly. He is also seeing a Homeopathic doctor which insurance doesn’t cover at all and cost around a few hundred dollars to visit each time. There are specialty treatments that are needed and vital to his health. They also have to purchase medical equipment such as his drainage kits for his lungs he uses every couple days that only a portion is covered by insurance. Our mom hasn’t been working as many hours in order to help with our Dad’s daily needs and preparing for future visits out to Illinois as well. We are also wanting them to take care of any other expenses or ways to releive the stress of all that comes with all of this. It's an overwhelming time for all of us as a family and we love spending time together just enjoying each others company. We are so proud of our dad, with all of his efforts of getting better and doing his very best to overcome this.
Thank you all SO much in advance, and we appreciate each person’s support! We pray that it would be in your heart to give and bless our parents more than they can imagine. They are some of the best people who are loving, servants, devoted to their family and growing the kingdom of God. Our dad (Ray) has amazed us all at how He has total faith in God and His steadfast heart in reaching out to help others in the same situation and give praise to God. We have the best parents in the world and we love them so much as we know many of you do as well❤️
Please feel free to share with others so we can have an army of prayer warriors + financial support surrounding them!
Jeremiah 30:17 But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord”
His Story:
How it started: He wasn’t feeling very well, extremely tired & a bad cough for about a month. He went to our family practice and they sent him over to Beaumont to get fluid drained from his lungs. They thought it was pneumonia, nothing serious. Two days later (Friday December 15th 2017) our parents get a call that when they tested the cells from the fluid in his lungs they were cancerous. We were all completely shocked that something we thought was small & easily treatble, was now lung cancer. Other than maybe some tiredness going on in the fall there was NO other symptoms. Our dad is 55, healthy, doesnt smoke or drink at all. The very next week he had a bunch of tests performed ( MRI’s/PET scans/etc) The waiting game makes you constantly anxious. The 4 of us met with a doctor (Thursday December 21st 2017) who went over the results. He had cancerous tumors in his spine. And were very close to the spinal cord. They also found a signal flares in the brain which they did radiation on and will get rechecked. It’s also in the abdomen, some bones & lungs. It’s stage 4 because of how much it spread.
He does in fact have a mutation. It’s when cancer cells decide to mutate. There was a 5% chance he would have this. Although it’s still cancer, it’s more ideal. It is still VERY aggressive and fast moving. He is taking Chemo pills daily which are also better than the normal drip chemo.
We are taking it one day at a time. We are a mix of constant up and downs, completely heartbroken yet still have GREAT hope that God will do a miracle. As a family we believe that Jesus will be glorified and that everyone will see His good works through healing our Dad. Thank you.
