RAVISHING - Short Film & Proof-Of-Concept

We are asking for your help today in supporting our independent film RAVISHING. We intend to use this film as a proof-of-concept. A proof-of-concept is a sequence from a larger story. It generates interest in the project, so that it can eventually be made into a feature length film.

My name is James Hyatt Carter and I was born and raised in beautiful Alabama.

I have been in love with movies ever since I can remember. As I grew older that passion for film grew. After graduating with a degree in telecommunications & film, from the University of Alabama, I found my way onto my first professional movie set working as a production assistant on the movie Get Out.  As soon as it wrapped, my wife and I decided it was “time”, so we packed up, strapped in our six-month-old son, and headed west to Los Angeles-- I know it sounds crazy. It was a slow grind at first having no connections in such a daunting city, but hard work and perseverance paid off! I eventually found work as a set production assistant on small low budget movies in LA. Since that time I have gone on to work on higher profile movies including The Irishman, Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, Venom, Gerald’s Game, Hotel Artemis and television shows such as Bosch, Ballers,  Hollywood, and Ratched.

Ravishing is a project that came about this summer during the work stoppage due to the COVID pandemic. I wrote the script after entering an online screen writing competition called the NYC Midnight screen writing challenge.  After receiving an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the judges I shared the script with some colleagues who are now just as excited and ready to bring this story to life as I am. Now with a solid script and team in place we are confident we can make a great film.

Ravishing is a psychological thriller about a man who is dealing with the consequences of past mistakes that force him to examine himself.  To keep a secret from his family he agrees to the demands presented to him even though he doesn’t fully understand their initial purpose. Soon he realizes that he has become an unwilling participant in a twisted game of horror.

Our budget calls for $8,000, which will cover equipment, locations, cast/crew and permits for three days of shooting. We understand 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and we appreciate anything you’re able to give. For joining and being a part of this with us, we would like to give you something back in return-- other than the warm, fuzzy feeling of supporting independent filmmaking.
