On the evening of Friday, Dec. 13 our sweet new little kitten, Raven suddenly became extremely ill.
Vomiting every couple hours all night, we waited until our vet opened Saturday morning and called them in a panic.
The vet told us they didn’t have the staff and resources to deal with an emergency situation on the weekend and suggested we go straight to Maritime Emergency.
After a series of tests, including x-rays and bloodwork, it was determined that Raven required major abdominal surgery.
Which, they could only do, of course, after a $3500 down payment, which the receptionist very kindly said she was lowering from the $5000 it was supposed to be.
Thankfully, Alex was able to sell some assets while we waited for her tests to be done to make this happen for her on Saturday. Without him… I don’t know how yesterday would have gone.
Raven had surgery around 12am and it was found she had somehow eaten something that caused her intestines to bunch.
As of now she is stable and sleeping but had a fever and still has not eaten. Her condition is improving but she is not out of the woods or coming home to us yet.
So… Here’s the kicker and why we have this Go Fund Me:
We adopted Raven on November 22nd and had two weeks until she needed her second round of vaccines: December 14.
This was intended to be the same time we got the checks to have her added her to our pet insurance.
From this wild and unfortunate turn of events, we now have our recovering girly still in hospital with the current projected medical bill sitting around $10000 - only one day before we were set to make sure this situation would never happen to us.
We hate the idea of asking for help here.
We KNOW the importance of pet insurance and had never foreseen this could be possible the day before her enrolment.
If anyone would like to help out, even a tiny amount, we would be immensely grateful.
If you aren’t in a place to extend financial support, please let us know that you are sending our baby girl your thoughts, prayers and well wishes.
At this point, just feeling like we are not alone in an impossible situation would be priceless to us.
❤️❤️
