Hello everyone,
Raven and Sparrow are returning to the Junior Olympics this February! This will be Sparrow's third JO competition and Raven's fifth and final JO competition. Raven is ending it where it all began as we travel back to Denver, CO the site of his very first Junior Olympic competition. Both these young men have been practicing hard. They have been steadily increasing their skills for years. Raven is now an A rated fencer, the highest rating a fencer can achieve. Sparrow is not far behind him having just earned his B rating this January! They are both excited to be competing in the Junior Olympics this month!
Fencing is an expensive sport and those athletes with the funds to travel throughout the year and compete in events all over the country have a distinct advantage in earning ratings and national points. Despite our families' financial constraints Raven and Sparrow have managed to achieve a level of excellence in this sport. They have done so through hard work and dedication and as a father I simply could not be more proud of these two young men. I am not too proud to ask for help though. National Fencing events are expensive. Registration fees, event fees, airfare, hotel expenses, transportation costs to and from the airport and back and forth to the Convention Center, as well as trying to eat healthy while traveling all add up to several thousand dollars. We are asking our community to help defer some of these costs. Any amount will help. Raven and Sparrow deserve the opportunity to follow their passions and strive to achieve their goals. Come Hell or high water I will make this happen for them but any support our community can offer us will be greatly appreciated. I thank you all in advance for the kindness and charity you may extend.
Sincerely,
