This story is about Raul Lopez. He is a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. My name is Jasmin and I am his first-born granddaughter. My grandfather is not aware that I have started this campaign. I have started this fund in hopes of helping my grandfather and grandmother in this time of pain they are going through.
My grandparents have led a very difficult life and have gone through many trials. When my grandfather was in his early 20’s he lost his arm while working in the cotton fields. Yet, losing his arm did not keep him from doing anything. He would always find a way to do things himself. I remember he even taught us how to tie our shoes and ride our bikes. He eventually built a career landscaping. My grandfather has been the most wonderful role model growing up. He taught us how to have humility, how to be kind and to be strong. He also showed us what it meant to have faith in God and to be thankful for everything God has given us. He has always been quick to lend a helping hand to anyone. My grandfather has an amazing heart.
Unfortunately, a few months ago my grandfather was diagnosed with stomach cancer. After trying various treatments and medications nothing seemed to work. The doctors say they are unable to do anything else for him. So now my grandfather is at home. He is very weak, frail, and in pain. He hardly talks now and will eat only a few spoonfuls of soup a day. He told me the other day that we don’t know the suffering that comes with this type of disease. We don’t know how he feels inside. We are all so devastated that we can’t do anything to help ease his misery. I know he is very anxious. He told me he constantly thinks of my grandmother and what will happen to her when he is gone. He says he thinks of us as well. That he wished he had been able to help us more. My heart is torn thinking that right now, when he is going through so much pain, he is still thinking of everyone else.
Therefore, I was hoping that in creating this fund it would ease some of the load of their medical bills and expenses that have accrued since my grandfather became ill. I hope that I can show this fund to my grandfather and that it will ease some of the anxiety he has. I want him to see that everything will be okay and that my grandmother will be taken care of. I just pray that this will work and it will help them. So to those that have taken the time to read this, thank you. If you are able to donate anything that is given is greatly appreciated. Also, to those that are unable to donate I just ask that you keep my grandfather in your prayers. I know that my grandfather and my family will greatly appreciate it and may God bless you as well. Thank you.
