Raul's Final Goal Line Stand Against Covid-19
Donation protected
Update July 13, 2020: For those who may not have heard or who may have just come across his fundraiser, my dad passed in a Houston hospital on July 5, 2020, from complications caused by SARS-CoV-2. My dad battled hard against Covid-19 and waited until one of his biggest fans (me) made it to the hospital to pass. I know many people have lost parents, siblings, family members, and friends and could not enter the room with their loved ones due to the high risk of contracting the virus. Still, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to be there for my dad in his final moments. My dad loved his family, his wife, and especially his children. He was the kind of dad who would do anything in his power for his kids. In my dad's last gameplay, he fought to stay alive to hold my hand one last time as we said goodbye. I know this wasn't easy for him, but he did it anyway, and this act exemplifies the dad I will always remember.
Our family would like to thank everyone for sharing my dad’s story. I have also attached a personal thank you message from Rosanna:
“I want to Personally thank each and every one of you for your prayers, thoughts, your love and all of your generosity. It means the world to our family to see how much Raul was loved. He fought as hard as he could to beat this vicious virus, but in the end, his body was tired. He would be speechless to see all the love and how he touched each and every one of you. Raul was the love of my life; he was my everything. Words can’t describe how much I’m going to miss you my Pookie Bear❤️❤️. Just rest in peace and know that you were one loved man who touch the hearts of many. This next part of our live is going to hard for Chaz, Christian, Junior, and Allie, your family and myself. But knowing that you are our guardian angel will keep us going. We will be cheering for your Cowboys and will be waving that flag. I love you to the moon and back always and forever until the day I die.”
We love you dad.

This post has not been easy to write, and it has been difficult for me to come to terms with his prognosis. Some of you may know, my dad has entered into the fourth quarter and last minute of his battle against his opponent Covid-19. He is putting up a hell of a fight against the other team. Still, after having a stroke on Friday afternoon, his body is tired. Additionally, he suffered a heart attack early Saturday morning that caused the doctors to resuscitate him three times. He is now at risk for brain swelling and multi-organ failure. Based on the information from the medical doctors attending to his care, it is determined that his prognosis is not good. However, he continues to fight and recover as the Cowboys did in Roger Staubach's last game against the Redskins in 1979 and win like the Cowboys in 1995.
Due to my parents being laid off during the pandemic, my dad lost his medical insurance and could not get coverage before becoming severely ill. We did not want to have to do this, but after much discussion, my stepmom, brothers, sisters, grandma, aunts, and uncles are now asking for help covering his medical expenses. The sad reality for my family is that my stepmom may lose her husband, my brothers, sisters, and I may lose a dad, and my grandma may lose a son. Therefore, we ask for any donations to help cover my dad's medical expenses and my family's new future that may need to continue without him.
If you knew my dad, you know how much he loves the Dallas Cowboys, but even with his love of the Cowboys being enormous, he loves his family 100 times more and would appreciate any help and support his Dallas Cowboy family and friends can offer. This is not limited to the DC4L family as he has friends from many other teams and truly enjoys a little trash talk with them as he is never afraid to fight for his team, his family, or himself. (With that being said, the DC4L family and the Cowboys biggest fan, my dad, Raul, knows this year is our year.)
He is a strong man physically and mentally who loves his family, the Dallas Cowboys, and cooking. He is a fantastic chef, husband, football, basketball, and poker player. He has been an amazing dad to my siblings and myself, and I am so proud of him for not giving up and even more proud to be his daughter. Thank you for your love, support, and prayers during this time when we are all experiencing a loss. Whether you can donate or share his story, we thank you. Please stay safe and healthy.
