​My name is Ro Kevueli Tavainavesi, from Nawaisomo village on Beqa Island in Fiji, and I am fundraising to repatriate my dear brother, Ratu Masi Saqanavere, home.

​Ratu Masi was a kind and joyful man known for his unwavering commitment to serving others. He was a natural leader who always performed his duties with excellence, whether in his community, his church, or any organisation he joined. He was the first to step up and carry the load, and he lived with integrity, guided by good character and a deep pride in his home province of Rewa. A dedicated champion of education for local students, he also served in many church roles, including preacher, choir leader, treasurer, and district steward. In everything he did, big or small, he gave his all. He also had a wonderful sense of humor, and his love for his family and siblings was boundless.

On June 3rd, 2025, Ratu Masi arrived in England with his wife, filled with immense pride and joy. He had traveled thousands of miles to witness a moment every father dreams of, his son's passing out parade at Catterick. Ratu Masi had every reason to be proud; both his children serve in the HM Forces, specifically the British Army. His daughter, PTE Saqanavere, with the Royal Logistic Corps, and his son, GDSM Saqanavere, with the 1st Welsh Guards.

​However, this time of happiness tragically turned to sorrow. Soon after arriving, Ratu Masi suffered a sudden and devastating medical crisis. He was hospitalised with high blood pressure and endured two severe strokes. Despite his courageous fight, he sadly passed away, leaving his family in deep shock and grief.

Today, his wife, children, and extended family, both here and in Fiji, are heartbroken. Our greatest wish is to honour him with the farewell he deserves by repatriating him to his homeland of Fiji. While the HM Forces have been a source of support for his children, we have learned that official policies do not cover the repatriation costs for a family member. This has left us with a significant and unexpected financial burden that we cannot manage on our own.

We have received quotes for the repatriation, and our fundraising goal of £10,000 will help us cover these significant expenses, including transportation, customs fees, and all necessary funeral arrangements to bring Ratu Masi home. It is where he truly belongs, where his heart is, and where his loved ones are waiting to say their final goodbyes.
