My name is Lindsay, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my dear friends Kayla and Craig-whose beloved dog Zoey is suffering from a rattlesnake bite.

On Thursday, August 7th, Zoey was bitten by a rattlesnake. Since then, it’s been a terrifying and emotional whirlwind. Her foot is extremely swollen, and the venom has started to cause liver damage. Her blood is no longer clotting properly, and now she needs a blood transfusion.

Right now, Zoey is at home being monitored closely until she can be rushed to Toronto for the next step in her treatment. She is having bloody diarrhea, she’s drooling, she’s jaundiced, and she hasn’t eaten. She’s weak and hurting — but she hasn’t given up.

Zoey is not “just a dog.” She is family. She’s the gentle, loyal friend who has grown up alongside Kayla and Craig’s two young children — their protector, their playmate, their comfort on hard days.

But the reality is, her treatment is expensive. They’ve already poured everything they have into saving her, but the next steps are financially out of reach without help.

This is why I’m reaching out to you. If you can give anything at all — truly, even the smallest amount — it will make a difference. Every dollar is a step toward keeping this family whole, and every share of this fundraiser helps us reach someone who might be able to help.

Update on Zoey

With the heaviest hearts, we wanted to share that despite every effort, our sweet Zoey wasn’t able to recover from the rattlesnake bite.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we were able to bring her into an emergency vet where she received 24-hour care all weekend. She was hooked up to IVs, monitored closely, and given everything possible to try and clear the venom from her system. We truly did everything we could — emotionally, physically, and financially — spending thousands of dollars in hopes of saving her.

Sadly, her body was too weak to fight anymore, and in the most loving decision we could make for her, we chose to let her go so she wouldn’t suffer any longer.

We are so deeply sorry we don’t have better news. Your kindness and support meant the world during this heartbreaking time, and we are forever grateful for the love you’ve shown Zoey and her family.
