As many of our close friends and family know, my dear friend and comrade of the last 9 years, she is my family. We spend holidays together, take trips together, live together, literally are attached at the hip. On the evening of October 12 2018 she went out alone to a few local dives here in Pasadena
Nothing new or out of the ordinary, I stayed in and went to bed. She arrived home soaking wet a little after 3am as it was a rare rainy night in southern California, she went right into her room and closed the door. It was dark and late and I didn't notice much other then the fact that she was wet due to the rain, and went back to bed. At approximately 7:45am she came into my room and woke me complaining about her Jaw and face hurting. I got ups and turned on the lights and was horrified by what I saw. She was covered in blood and still bleeding from her nose and mouth. Her left eye was dark and her bottom jaw on the right hand side swollen and bruised, and her whole bottom jaw pushed over to the left. I immediately took a warm cloth, wiped some of the blood from her face, threw on my clothes and took her to the ER. We got in swiftly where they started doing x-rays and CT scans.
After long, the doctor came in and told us the bad new, that her jay was indeed broken and would be requiering surgery. A specialty surgon would have to be brought in to perform the operation. While we awaited further news, we found the back of her head to be badly bruised and her left shoulder. When the surgeons finally arrived, they told us that not only was her jaw broken in one place, but two.

And that they would need to be going in to insert titanium plats to fuse the breaks in her jaw together, and then wiring her mouth shut for 6 weeks while she healed. We were then admitted to the hospital while she awaited surgery making her as comfortable as possible. The police and social workers came to interview us and interrogate trying to piece together what may have happened and if this may have been sexually motivated, hate crime motivated, or what .

The next morning she went in, and then was discharged shortly there after due to insurance reasons. We where both shocked as the surgery was still very fresh. We got her home and situated and my cousin flew out and is helping take care of her while I work as much as possible. Camille and I where and have been very reluctant to put up any kind of a funding, or fund raising, because we are very hard workers and don't feel right doing it. But after the suggestions of family and friends, and also finding out there there is a good chance she may have permanent nerve damage in her jaw and face, its becoming increasingly clear the hospital bills will be overwhelming not just from the stay, but the operation and the specialty surgeons. We are hoping to raise some funds to help her cover the costs of her bills and the cost of possible dental work coming up as we don't know the severity of the damage until the swelling goes down and the wires come off in 6 weeks. She will also be missing 4-5 weeks of work and having to drop out of school this semester and loosing her funding.
The good news is the Pasadena Police have been very thorough and have been following up on leads, and are persuring a suspect they believe maybe responsible.
So here we are... anything helps. We can keep everyone updated and anything, even a few bucks helps inch us close to our goal. Thank you so much.
