Rashed's Hip Surgery
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Nathan Rogers, and I am fundraising for my dear friend, Rashed Anaba. Rashed and I met eleven years ago and have grown closer and closer in the years since as co-founders of Well Constructed, a non-profit which provides sustainable access to clean water for more than 130,000 people in rural Ghana.
Growing up in the Upper East Region of Ghana, Rashed dreamed of having access to clean water - a luxury he did not enjoy as a child - and eventually bringing sustained clean water access to his community. After his father passed away during his youth, Rashed dropped out of school to provide for his family and enable his younger brothers to continue their studies. Eventually, he started a small tourism business that allowed him to build connections outside of Ghana with the means to fund the wells he envisioned.
When Rashed and I met in 2011, he was already well on his way toward fulfilling his dream of a Ghana where every child has access to clean water. He inspired me to join him, and together, since co-founding Well Constructed in 2015, we have been able to expand the scope of his efforts, building hundreds of wells and providing clean water access to nearly 150,000 Ghanaians. I have been lucky; partnering with Rashed has been my life’s most important work.
Over the past few years, Rashed’s ceaseless activity on behalf of his community has caught up to him. Rashed is in serious need of a hip replacement and has struggled to manage his pain, which now keeps him from what he loves and is good at, providing clean water to the people of Ghana.
Hip replacement surgery in Ghana costs roughly $10,000-$15,000, and in the United States, it costs roughly $30,000 - $45,000. The amount we can raise will determine where we decide to have the surgery. Any excess funds will be donated directly to Well Constructed, where they will go to drill more wells and provide clean water to more people.
Thank you,
Nathan
