Rare Youth Onset Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Donation protected
On May 13th, 2019 Alex Sharbono celebrated her 17th birthday. At 4am the next morning her parents awoke to a loud bang. They found their daughter unconscious on her bedroom floor and called 911. Alex was rushed to the hospital via ambulance and remained unconscious for the longest 5 hours imaginable.
Alex woke and had no memory of what had happened, she couldn't walk, she struggled to form simple sentences, and she didn't know who she was...but she did recognize her mom and dad.
Multiple tests and 9 days later Alex was discharged from the hospital and diagnosed with rare youth onset Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and possibly a seizure disorder. She has an advanced form of this MS with an uncountable number of lesions on her brain and spinal cord.
The doctors are treating her disease very aggressively in an attempt to slow/stop the growth of more lesions. Alex's treatment includes regular physical therapy, multiple medications, frequent doctor appointments and procedures(MRI's, EEG's, ), medical equipment (wheelchair, walker, etc.) and costly Tysabrl infusions every few months.
Alex's parents, Lenny and Jayne, are determined to do everything and anything possible to help their little girl. With their faith in God and the love and support of family and friends the Sharbono's are optimistic and hope for Alex to eventually live a life free from debilitating setbacks.
Despite having good health insurance; the out of pocket costs for this family is insurmountable. They are facing a minimum of $8000.00 in additional medical expenses as well as uncovered expenses due to modifications needed in their home.
Please consider donating to the Sharbono family. Alex, Lenny, and Jayne thank you for any donation and also ask for ongoing prayers for the effective treatment they are pursuing and for Alex 's ability to cope and embrace her now life-long medical condition.
God Bless.
