Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis 1. A disease which has taken over my son's life Eli MCranie since the age of 16 . He now is 23, trying to live a normal life, work, live on his on and go to college. He had to drop out of college and can only work around 10 hrs. a week
Not only has this disease ravaged his liver, it is also causing him to go deaf and has developed Portal Hypertension.
His transplant team declared him disabled June 2019. Since then he has not been able to gain the 43 lbs. back that he lost in 4 weeks time. He lost a massive amount of muscle mass and is unable to do any physical activities
Eli starts his transplant evaluations March 23. It will be non stop testing all week. These tests will determine his new MELD score which will determine how high he goes on transplant list.
Eli has been turned down for disability twice now. We do have Allsup working with us and they have filed another appeal.
Although he has insurance, it does not pay 100%.
We have sought financial help for Eli but have been turned down. His father and I are helping support him, but the bills can be overwhelming.
Eli had a gofundme last year. Eli and family were deeply appreciative of the donations.
Thank you all for reading Eli's story and please share and keep him in your prayers.
