Angela’s Fight against a Rare Autoimmune Disorder
In February, 2021, my good friend Angela got her COVID vaccination. Angela, a respiratory therapist, was one of our front-line workers at the beginning of the pandemic helping COVID patients in the hospital through their own ordeals. What she did not know, is that a few days after receiving the vaccination, she would end up in the hospital herself, suffering rare severe and major side effects. Horrendous nerve pain through her arms and legs, cold sensations throughout her body even under a heating blanket, hypertension issues, high heart rate spikes, and weaknesses in her hands and legs were just a few symptoms. She left the hospital in a wheelchair and only in the last few months has been able to start using a walker for short distances. Her doctor would poke her with a needle to see if she felt anything and she felt nothing. She was hospitalized three times with never-ending tests and Ivig infusions.
Her doctors are at their wits end and at her last appointment it was told to her that at her next appointment they are going to try a chemo cocktail to shut off her immune system which the side effects from these drugs are also very scary.
This really scared Angela!
Angela got the shot because she believed it was the best thing for her while she helped other patients in the hospital fight their own battle with COVID as a frontline worker. Sadly, she was one of few yet one of many that suffered severe side effects that turned her life upside down.
The doctors have done a number of tests and they believe her own immune system is attacking her nervous system, likely Sjogren’s Syndrome, a long-term autoimmune disease. But they don’t know for sure and more tests are being done.
Angela has been trying ozone therapy and wants to continue as well as join this research group listed below, however its quite costly as insurance does not cover the expense, and with being unable to work or drive since the beginning of March, it is all catching up to her.
Below is a link to the research group she wants to join.
Help me help Angela, with her medical bills and any other bills while she searches for the right therapy to get back on her feet and back to work in helping others.
