Rare disease medical treatment - Help needed
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Wendy. I was impacted by a tech layoff. Sadly, many of you are well aware of the layoffs in tech as well. The market has been far from kind - if you are very senior or very junior it's been even more difficult. As someone very senior, I've been passed up repeatedly due to the amount of experience.
While we have done our best to manage finances, and to keep a positive attitude - I need your help. Today I found out that the medication I require to manage a rare immunodeficiency disease requires all new approval processes due to a change in insurance. These process requires series of tests, specialists, time and doctors to advocate. Its a long process normally taking months. This means we have to pay out of pocket for treatments - as this is immunoglobulin it is extremely, extremely expensive.
Sadly, I don't have a normal immune system. In fact, I don't make the antibodies most people do, and my b cells do not remember certain types of viruses and bacteria even after I have been exposed. This means I don't have a 1st line of defense that most of you do. The medication is like a weekly immune system transplant that gives me antibodies from those heros out there who do plasma donations. It's the only treatment for my disease. Without it I can get extremely sick, and even die. I need help getting a few months of treatments until the insurance will kick in to cover.
When it rains it pours sadly, on top of this I have a roof repair that must be paid by 3/25 or I will have a lien placed on my house.
The lack of income and credit hit leaves me with no options for loans, etc..
I would greatly appreciate your help, and support.
