Help with cancer expenses, PET scan
Donation protected
After feeling sick for some time, in October 2018 I was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer and carcinoid syndrome. It came as a shock; I had no major risk factors. The endocrinologist thinks it’s unlikely that it will return if they are able to surgically remove it. They haven’t pinpointed the exact location yet.
Now that I need treatment I’ve learned my insurance doesn’t cover the type of dye used in a PET scan that is necessary to pinpoint my cancer. Out of pocket it costs well over $5,000, and I don’t have that or even the credit score to borrow that much. The lab won’t do a payment plan. No one can surgically remove the cancer until the pet scan is done, which means I can’t be cured if this scan doesn’t happen.
I’m constantly stuck in the hospital. I was admitted to the hospital due to heart problems from the syndrome the cancer causes, and was given nitro tablets twice to intervene. The symptoms from the carcinoid syndrome are both extremely painful and dangerous, affecting my heart, lungs, hormones, and digestion. The episodes have been excruciating, and I’ve been told they can’t be prevented until I’m treated. I have dangerous fainting and vomiting spells. In January alone I dropped more than 30 lbs and it is essential at this point that I be able to proceed with treatment.
With my symptoms keeping me tied to either a bed or a bathroom, I’m now too sick to work. I hate this, but I need to ask for help.
Pain, nausea, and dizziness have kept me a lot when I am, by nature, an active person. I just want my life back.
Please help me get the PET scan, so I can move on to the next step and get well. Any help is greatly appreciated, my little girl needs me to get better.
