My fight against a rare and unusual cancer

Donation protected
I guess my story is best told from the beginning. It all started about 10 years ago when people noticed a mark on my leg. I never made a huge fuss about it. Why would I. I  was young and thought I bumped it or bruised it or it was a birthmark. Than a few years ago I noticed a lump under this blue mark and asked many doctors who said it's probably a hard tissue from injuring it at some point. Nothing to worry about. It wasn't until the last year or two. I noticed I was going to the emergency or doctor more often then normal.  The lump under my leg was getting bigger and I just wasn't  feeling like myself anymore. I was always tired or nautious. This last October I got a severe case of pnemonia. Which put me out of work for weeks. I was running out of PTO I was saving too finally use for some time off of work and I was so tired of missing work for an illness. Why am I using all my earned PTO  and saved money to pay for medicines and doctors and nothing was getting better. I went in for a follow up appt. for my pnemonia and my doctor randomly asked me about an ankle sore, "Has your ankle always been that bad? It looks like it hurts alot." I said yes. I'm embarrased by it but I can't seem to ever get a dermatologist who can  help me understand whats wrong or a prescription that works.  We got to talking about how I been feeling.  I talked about the blue lump on my leg and how I was getting more worried about it and how I already owe a few thousands in bills because every doctor told me it was nothing or just a bruise. I was ready to give up.She looked at me and said lets schedule for this dermatologist, "I highly recommend her and let's see what we can do." Well, 5 months later, I get to my appointment and she see's me for my ankle. After my consult, I bring up my thigh and she says right away, "Let me take pictures.  This is odd that it's growing. I want to send you to my specialist who specializes in skin and vascular surgery." She not only helped to heal my ankle but wasn't hesitant in a recommendation that  would change my life forever.  She explains to me that the surgeon wants to do a non-invasive surgery and look inside to see whats going on. Instead of opening up a small piece he wanted to look more at it and open up a good amount. It wasn't until weeks later I was looking at 2 non-invasive surgeries. Where he found a tumor and dark growth deep in my skin. I wait nervously wondering what is it? Weeks go by.He calls me and explains,  " the blue marking on your leg is considered a Benign Blue Nevus but sadly the stuff we took deep underneath came back positive for Melonoma. But it's unusual because, this type of cancer is very rare and almost never happens. I want to talk to a tumor board and see where to go from here."I have spent then the last 6 months not only going through a whole new world change of Covid-19 but, pay cuts, no more PTO to help pay for all my doctors appointments or bills, about 6 doctors visits a month, labs, surgeries and weeks where I wasn't aloud to work or move around.  I'm still healing from leg surgery where they had to remove all the infected skin and a lymph node to biopsy.I just recently found out from that biopsy result I am now currently at a stage 3!I have an upcoming Petscan to see if other nodes need to be removed or if it spread further than my groin.  It's been so hard going at this alone to doctors appointments and trying to manage bills and money to pay for all the appointments to come. I currently got to $10,000 in medical bills within the last few months and I don't even know my exact stage or treatment plan yet. I wasn't even sure what to ask for because everyday there is something new. My family and friends are here to help me but I'm sure even if I beat this I will be fighting to not have it return. I just need to get my life back to a point where I don't have to worry about losing my car,  job or health insurance because I can't afford the help I need or keep up with the bills that keep stacking. My goal is to get help paying bills and extra proceeds will go to research to help others struggling with this rare cancer. Thank you.
